The Different Types of Veganism

It's no secret that veganism is gaining more and more traction every day, with more people than ever choosing to ditch animal products in favor of a plant-based diet. But did you know that there are actually different types of veganism? Whether you're just getting into veganism or have been plant-powered for years, it's important to be aware of the different types of veganism so that you can make sure you're following the dietary guidelines that are right for you. Let's take a look at the various types of veganism out there.

Whole Food Plant-Based (WFPB)

This type of veganism focuses on eating whole, unprocessed foods made from plants. A WFPB diet consists primarily of fruits, vegetables, legumes, nuts, and seeds — all food items that are minimally processed and free from added oils and refined sugars. This type of veganism encourages consumption of whole grains as well as limiting consumption of processed foods like chips, mock meats, and other vegan junk food

Raw Vegan

As the name suggests, raw vegans eat only uncooked or “raw” food items such as fruits, vegetables, nuts, seeds, and sprouted grains. Raw vegans believe that cooking food destroys its nutritional value and opt for eating their food in its natural state whenever possible. This type of diet is not necessarily low-calorie; rather it encourages consumption of a wide variety of nutrient-dense foods like avocados and nut butters which may be high in calories but also highly nutritious

Junk Food Vegan

Also known as "accidental vegans," junk food vegans consume very few plant-based whole foods like fruits and vegetables - instead relying heavily on processed faux meats and cheeses as well as other processed snacks like chips and cookies. While this type of veganism does eliminate animal products from one's diet completely, it is generally not considered to be the healthiest option due to its reliance on heavily processed items with little nutritional value.

As you can see there are many different types of veganism out there! Whether your main goal is to improve your health or help animals or both - knowing which type best suits your needs will help you achieve your goals faster! No matter what type you choose though - remember that each offers its own set benefits when it comes to providing nutrients while eliminating animal products from your diet! So whatever way works best for you - keep it up! Happy Vegging!
